Albuquerque, N.M.–– Kay Bounkeua’s campaign received the official endorsement of Dr. Theodore Jojola, director and founder of the Indigenous Design and Planning Institute at the University of New Mexico.

The following is a statement from Dr. Theodore Jojola on his endorsement for Kay Bounkeua seeking to be appointed to serve in House District 19:

Kay will be a tremendous asset to our community.  As the former Director of the NM Asian Family Center, she built up the organization in a manner that made important community connections among diverse groups.  She is a champion for social justice and will serve our state and the constituents of House District 19 well.

If appointed to represent HD19, Kay would become the first Asian American woman to serve at the Roundhouse in the NM Legislature’s history.

The Bernalillo County Commission is expected to appoint a new Representative for House District 19 on Tuesday, August 24
