Albuquerque, N.M.–– Kay Bounkeua’s campaign received the official endorsement of Patricia Roybal Caballero, current New Mexico State Representative for House District 13, and longtime progressive advocate for workers; and immigrants’ rights.

The following is a statement from Rep. Patricia Roybal Caballero on her endorsement for Kay Bounkeua seeking to be appointed to serve in House District 19:

I am thrilled to endorse Kay Bounkeua for House District 19. Kay has a long history dedicated to assisting and elevating her Asian community to ensure they have needed services and representation. Her compassion, perseverance and persistence are the very attributes we all need in the legislature. Additionally, as Democrats, we are committed to diversity in representation and Kay is the perfect example of our commitment to diversity. I wholeheartedly endorse Kay Bounkeua for HD 19 and I urge the Bernalillo County Commissioners to appoint her.

If appointed to represent HD19, Kay would become the first Asian American woman to serve at the Roundhouse in the NM Legislature’s history.

The Bernalillo County Commission is expected to appoint a new Representative for House District 19 on Tuesday, August 24.
