Albuquerque, N.M.–– Kay Bounkeua’s campaign to represent House District 19 received an endorsement from prominent Indigenous education leader, Anpao Duta Flying Earth, Monday morning.

The following is a statement from Anpao Duta Flying Earth on his endorsement for Kay Bounkeua seeking to be appointed to serve in House District 19:

“Representation matters, ideologically and in terms of community. Kay Bounkeua will be an important voice for our community. Her perspective as a mother, community member, organizer, and social justice advocate will add depth and context to the NM legislature.”

If appointed to represent HD19, Kay would become the first Asian American woman to serve at the Roundhouse in the NM Legislature’s history. 

The Bernalillo County Commission is expected to appoint a new Representative for House District 19 on Tuesday, August 24.
