Albuquerque, N.M.–– Kay Bounkeua’s campaign received the official endorsement of Claudia Medina, former executive director of Enlace Comunitario and longtime domestic violence prevention advocate in New Mexico.

The following is a statement from Claudia Medina on her endorsement for Kay Bounkeua seeking to be appointed to serve in House District 19:

I support Kay Bounkeua for DH19 because she is an inspiration to me and hundreds of community members that have had the honor to work side by side with her for years trying to solve many of the most pressing problems in our community.  Kay has been deeply engaged in increasing rights for victims of domestic violence and immigrants, especially Asian families, as well as improving access to public transportation, community investment, and environmental justice, and through her work on these different  issues she has demonstrated that she is responsible, hard working and most importantly, that we can trust her.

If appointed to represent HD19, Kay would become the first Asian American woman to serve at the Roundhouse in the NM Legislature’s history.

The Bernalillo County Commission is expected to appoint a new Representative for House District 19 on Tuesday, August 24
