Albuquerque, N.M.–– Kay Bounkeua’s campaign is honored to announce the official endorsement of Oriana Sandoval, longtime Albuquerque community leader and CEO of Center for Civic Policy–NM’s progressive powerhouse shaping a more responsive, inclusive democracy.

The following is a statement from Oriana Sandoval on her endorsement for Kay Bounkeua seeking to be appointed to serve in House District 19:

In my role as Executive Director at the Center for Civic Policy, I have been able to witness first-hand Kay’s exceptional leadership in her work with the diverse communities that make up House District 19. Over the years, she has striven tirelessly to engage and empower community members to participate in our democracy and the policy processes that impact their daily lives. Kay has a proven track record in leading campaigns to fight for fair representation and transformative change.  Her perspective and her personal and professional experience will be huge assets to the people of the district and our state. She has all of the attributes to make her an able and effective member of the state legislature. I enthusiastically support Kay’s appointment to represent House District 19.

If appointed to represent HD19, Kay would become the first Asian American woman to serve at the Roundhouse in the NM Legislature’s history.

The Bernalillo County Commission is expected to appoint a new Representative for House District 19 on Tuesday, August 24
