Albuquerque, N.M.–– Albuquerque City Councilor, Lan Sena (District 1), officially announced her support and endorsement for Kay Bounkeua’s bid for House District 19, Wednesday afternoon.

The following is a statement from Lan Sena on her endorsement for Kay Bounkeua seeking to be appointed to serve in House District 19:

“I support Kay for House District 19 because she has a proven record of fighting for social, climate, and reproductive justice. As the first Asian American woman to serve in the Albuquerque City Council, I understand firsthand the need for diverse voices in government. Kay will be that voice that reflects the realities being lived on the ground and as someone who will champion the needs and the healing that is needed in House District 19.”

If appointed to represent HD19, Kay would become the first Asian American woman to serve at the Roundhouse in the NM Legislature’s history.

The Bernalillo County Commission is expected to appoint a new Representative for House District 19 on Monday, August 23.
